Montien - Richmond Upon Thames

I emphasized that I am a vegetarian when ordering at this restaurant. However, when my vegetarian spring rolls arrived, they were served on the same plate as the chicken satay. The second spring roll I bit into did not have any vegetables, only a prawn. I expressed my concerns to the owner, who initially only offered to replace the spring roll with another vegetarian option. Despite my explanation that I am vegetarian for ethical reasons and that many people have shellfish allergies, the owner did not seem concerned about the potential seriousness of the mistake. My party decided to cancel our main course, but the owner showed no remorse or concern for the error.

We have dined at this charming restaurant multiple times. It is a hidden gem. The food is superb, freshly cooked and delicious, made to order by the owner and served by the host and, I believe, their daughter. Reservations are recommended for this restaurant. They also offer takeout options.

This restaurant is on the smaller side, so make sure to reserve a table - and it's definitely worth it! The food was outstanding with a great variety of options, and the staff were very helpful in describing the dishes. I highly recommend this place.

I love this restaurant and have eaten here many times. They serve up quality Thai food in a nice relaxed setting, it's significant;y better than the average Thai place. The whole steamed fish is delicious.

3 of us had worked up an appetite after walking around Kew Gardens and remembered that Montien had been recommended by an acquaintance. We arrived as they opened at 6.30pm on a Friday and they were soon busy. We couldn't decide what to have as it all sounded lovely so we chose 4 dishes to share. Chicken pad Thai, Massaman curry, mixed veg and chicken with cashew nuts. We also ordered some coconut rice and there honestly wasn't a scrap of food left. It was all so fresh and delicious. For dessert we shared a mango sticky rice. The portion would have been fine for one person, but we only wanted a little sweet taster as we were full. It was great. Friendly staff, fresh tasty food. We look forward to returning.
