We recently ate here and the service wasn't good, the food was average and the Pisco Sour was absolutely terrible! My Wife is from Lima and we return to...Peru every 2 years and obviously eat lots of Peruvian Food which we absolutely love and I’m afraid I have to say that La Cocina Peruana is not a true reflection on Peruvian Cuisine as the food is just average here whereas when you eat proper Peruvian cuisine in Peru it’s just absolutely amazing food! I really hope this place improves in the near future!
We passed this restaurant after shopping in Randwick and as we had been to Peru thought we would try it out. The food portions are generous and very tardy however they did not have the beans for the pea ado a la chorrillana nor the...kale in the Quinotto. They were awaiting getting the Pisco and had no expresso. It is a charming place and the staff are very friendly and despite the shortages we had an enjoyable meal.
Went there for a good cebiche and wasn't disappointed. Order the mix cebiche, including prawns and chilli as a main. It is excellent! The only let down might be they offered Peruvian beer on the menu and they didn't have, only Corona.
We are locals and have passed by this restaurant several times, noticing that it is usually empty. Despite this, we decided to give it a try for dinner tonight. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed and do not plan on returning. The service was slow and lackluster, even though there was only one other table occupied. The ceviche was enjoyable, but the beef stir fry and lamb dishes were heavy and the meat was tough and bland. Our waitress did not check on us at all throughout the evening, and did not even offer us dessert. It seemed like she just wanted to give us the bill so she could leave. The only highlight of the evening was the music in the restaurant. We recommend avoiding this place.
We visited the restaurant on a slow midweek night and despite the lack of customers, we still had to wait a while for our delicious ceviche and stuffed potato appetizers to arrive. Some background music would have been a nice addition to the atmosphere. Unfortunately, we were disappointed by the BBQ dishes we ordered. The chicken had good flavor, but the other cuts were tough and difficult to eat. It was a mistake not to realize they didn't ask how we wanted it cooked. In the future, we would recommend sticking to the Peruvian dishes and going elsewhere for BBQ. While the desserts looked appealing in photos, we did not end up ordering any.
