We have stopped a few times for a drink, we have been welcomed each time and the front terrace is a nice place to sit and enjoy a drink whilst you watch the world go by....seems a shame but there is a lovely looking garden to the rear which would make a nice beer garden? This visit we tried the lunch menu, you can either have 2 or 3 courses for around 10 to 13 euros which is about normal around this area, simple nicely cooked food is how I would describe it.
This bar brasserie opened in July, and we have eaten here regularly ever since. The food is straightforward, cuisine familiale as the proprietor/chef Angelique describes it. However, the quality is excellent with an emphasis on local produce; and the value is second to none. During the week a four course menu complet at lunch or dinner is priced at 13 euros. Today we ate chestnut terrine from Limoges, hachis parmentier (a sort of superior shepherds pie), local goats cheese served with local honey, and Angelique's home made pear tart. Simply delicious. At the weekend the menu is a little more sophisticated and priced at 20 euros. We have enjoyed an amazing carbonade with flavours of gingerbread, boeuf bourguignon given a twist with balsamic glazed onions, and a wonderful rabbit casserole which had been marinading for 48 hours!Booking is advisable at lunchtime and necessary for the evenings. It is a really pleasant place to enjoy a morning coffee or an evening apéritif sitting outside on the pretty square. The decor is clean and modern, enhanced by artworks from galleries in the village. The very best thing about Aux Saveurs d'Antan is the extremely warm and genuine welcome from Angelique and her family. She creates a very happy and friendly atmosphere.
