Zest Cafe Home Art - Raleigh

I heard a lot a lot of hype about this restaurant. I don't understand what all the hype was about. My husband and daughter had lunch here yesterday. The bill was 89 dollars. We all had water. I ordered the Brie ,chicken,and jam sandwich with Cole slaw. My husband ordered the house salad with chicken. It was terrible! The chicken on both our meals were not cooked well and cold. The bread on my sandwich was made with white soggy bread. My husband's salad had not veggies and it looked like they just threw a bunch of cold lettuce on his cold chicken. I never leave reviews, but this was a terrible lunch for 89 dollars

The owner and the manager are horrific. We have been going to zest for 20+ years and now the restaurant has gone down hill. The staff are slow, the menu is fine same things for 10+ years but now the nickel and dime you for salad dressing and refills. We went here almost weekly and to be see this please go down hill is awful but we have no choice to no longer visit. Please think twice about going here it’s not the same it once was.

I’ve been a customer for a very long time of zest and really like many of their dishes but… Last night went and my friend and I went for dinner. My friends food had a used band aid right on top of the food. Once we got the attention of a server she grabbed the plate and made a new plate for my friend . They also comped her food. But the issue was there were many eyes that should have seen it before it got to the table. Plus the prep person was not wearing gloves. It really ruined the experience .i will hesitate before I return .

Having lived in the neighborhood 20 years ago with good memories of Zest Cafe Home Art, I was excited about stopping at Zest for lunch. After reviewing the menu we ordered and split the heirloom tomato sandwich and 'crispy ' salad with chicken. The heirloom tomato sandwich was disappointing, with very little flavor, a mealy tomato. The bread and cheese were good... Turning to the salad, the diced chicken had a definite refrigerator taste. The lettuces, apple slices, and dressing were good. So, we picked at the bread, cheese, and lettuces and apple slices and ended the meal. Perhaps better luck next time. I 've enjoyed excellent food at Zest in years past.

The Torta!!! Wow I love it! Great taste, and would drive from Cary again to eat it. I highly recommend it.
