This place is in the suburbs of Quebec, and may not look impressive. However, if you eat there, you will NOT regret it: excellent food! Excellent! We took sets (as opposed to single dishes) and were very satisfied. The [thick soup recommended by the waitress was particularly delicious, and so were the main dishes! The service was attentive. We only wish we had such a restaurant where we live! [By the way: I read other reviews and I think that giving one star just because you (the guest) does not speak French is unfair. Certain native English speakers are unbelievably self-entitled: not giving a to learn a foreign language, expecting everybody to speak your own.
We are a non french speaking family that was visiting Quebec for vacation. Our guide suggesting trying the hotel and we decided to go. To begin with the waiter did not understand any English and to make things worse the menu was only in french. The waiter just seated us and did not know what to do with us. He told us (in English) that we will need to wait for the owner. We somehow used google translate and ordered the food but he added things to it on his own and thus we had more food on the table. Food was no doubt one of the best Thai meals we ever had. The owner even came out and greeted us later in the meal. When I got to the counter for payment, to my surprise the waiter had added a 25% tip to the food on his own. Since the food was good we decided to order take out from there the next day evening. On calling the restaurant the same waiter picked up the phone, likely noticed our out of province number and told us that the restaurant was closed!!!! We called again an hour later and he was still there greeting customers. TLDR; really good food but terrible service if you're not a francophone. If you still decide to go, make sure you have google translate installed on your phone.
We went to the restaurant to celebrate my daughters sweet 16 birthday. We were 11 people and just walked in with no reservation and one member of the group had a peanut allergy. Tia was very accommodating by not only guaranteeing a peanut free meal (she cooked it her herself), she also translated her entire menu I highly recommend this restaurant !! Rita
My wife and I are vegans, and learned about Thai Exotique on a vegan restaurant site. When we called for a reservation the owner/chef Tia Caoile explained that it was not a vegan restaurant, but that she would be pleased to accommodate us. She asked about our restrictions and said that she would make a meal to order, and boy did she ever. The only item on the menu was a Thai soup called 'the Legend, ' and is it ever. This was followed by two large Thai vegetable spring rolls, and then our main courses were a stir fried vegetable in peanut sauce, a sizzling plate of pineapple and vegetables in a piquant sweet and sour sauce, and a plate of lightly battered deep-fried tofu. Tia was marvelous and so was the service. Try to go Tues or Wed when the restaurant is not that busy, and call ahead to special order.
