Coconut curry soup was very good and so was coconut curry with rice or vermicelli. Desert was ok the donuts were good but not great. Nice place they don't sell alcohol but you can bring your own in.
We were looking for a family friendly restaurant that was not in the heart of the old city. We were getting a little tired of bar and brasserie style meals. Our search on TripAdvisor yielded Bati Bassak. Being from Los Angeles, we are pretty experienced with Thai and Cambodian food. While not the last word in authenticity, it is delicious, fairly priced and popular for good reason. The staff was great - very friendly and courteous. My kids really enjoyed the food. Portions were perfect - we split 3 mains, one soup and one appetizer between the 5 of us with no leftovers and no complaints of hunger. Ah the perfect balance. St. Roche neighborhood is up and coming with lots of cool bars and businesses that we will have to visit when the kids are not in tow.
This gem of a restaurant has a small but excellent menu. I'd say it is more Southeast Asian /Chinese than Cambodian. Try the Amok, the Cambodian national dish consisting of fish cooked in coconut milk steamed in banana leaves. The restaurant offers the Thai national dish Pad Thai and a curried version. The curried Pad Thai is excellent. But then, everything is excellent. Great service too. Had dinner there twice.
Good-looking restaurants with an interesting menu I only regret a lack of flavor and spices more typical my host table was excellent. Imperial rollers are perfect.
