Pioik Bakery - Pyrmont

Pioik Bakery is a cozy cafe along Harris Street which offers an assortment of sandwiches, baked goods and sweet treats. Most of its baked goods were made in the morning and microwaved or reheated when you ordered them. I got myself Breakfast Pizza and a flat white. On the one hand, the flat white was scorching hot with an exceptional layer of foam and traces of espresso and milk. It tasted more like a cup of coffee-flavoured hot water. The breakfast pizza, which comprised pumpkin, walnut and fresh herbs, lost its vibrancy and flavour after X number of reheats. Plus, service was rude. I have not come across a restaurant or cafe who scolded their customer for taking photographs of their food (both receptionist and cook). You could specify that with a notice or probably communicate courteously.

Great tasting food, not very good coffee unfortunately. Also I'm not too happy about breakfast being served in disposable take away material instead of real dishes. Not happy about the amount of waste this place must make.

Came here with high expectations after hearing great reviews and was disappointed both with quality of the bread and service of the staff. Waitress had no idea of the breads and wasn't keen on helping us decide what to take home. At the end her attitude wasn't worth dealing with so we left.

Minimum 10$ on card, are we in 1980? For a small partly take-away shop where you might just buy a sweet or coffee it's a reason to never go back!

This place gets a 5.0 because of the brilliant coffee and service. Aesthetically pleasing, proud but not arrogant, super clean. What more could you want??? Oh. And Portishead was playing...
