The food is served cafeteria style, and we had deep-fried calamari, a scallop-prawn kebab, oyster mornay, and chips. It was tasty lunch but not cheap (and plenty filling for us, although we saw people with huge amounts of fish piled on their plates). This is a not to be missed experience, if you don't want to eat, at least check out the many types of fish.
Really disappointed. The scallop kebabs were like dry rubber. The lobster Thermidor was acceptable but probably only because the cheese kept the moisture in. If I had these dishes in a restaurant I would have sent them back. As it was, the place was crammed with tourists and I couldn't wait to get back into the city centre for some decent food. If you're going to visit the fish market and want to eat cooked food, make sure you see it being cooked so you know it's freshly done.
The food were nice and fresh, price was reasonable and service was very good. Definitely, one of the best spot for seafood in Sydney.
As someone else was writing, I thought the food was good, but expensive from the portion. The price seems to be set for tourist.
Came to hear about this place from the locals who were always asking us to come here before we left town. We were not very keen initially to go there because it was our impression that this was nothing more than just a seafood restaurant not far from a smelly fish market. We were wrong.....The restaurant was really great with a variety of selection ranging from muscles, crabs to lobsters. This restaurant is able to prepare the seafood to a variety of ways including Asian, Malaysian and even Western. We sat near the pier where we enjoyed the breeze, the bright sun and sound of the sea whilst having our lunch. It was a real good moment and with the food tasting to good, it was a moment to remember. Except for the annoying seagulls, we really enjoyed ourselves. But I suppose that's nature for you.In terms of prices, you are not expected to pay more than most places and in fact it costs lesser here than in most places. Be prepared to pay about AUD 20 for a meal. We had mussels, soft shell crabs, fish and chips and even prawns. Oh, boy was it worth it..... For those who have never been here before, do make an effort to try this restaurant. I promise, you would not regret it.
