Pho in Czech? Get the Pho out of here! I learned from a Prague business owner that Vietnamese food in Czech Republic has been a thing way before it became very popular in the States. After communism fell in 1989, Vietnamese food and Chinese cuisine made an appearance. Vietnamese food was the first foreign cuisine available and everyone went nuts for it! Since then it became a staple like tacos in So Cal. After learning this culinary fact, I decided to skip the pork knuckles and sausages (I had my fill) and get some Czech Pho. I ran into this place walking to Wenceslas Square from the post office, perfect timing! The restaurant is on the basement level so you will pass through a door and go down a flight of stairs. Pho Vietnam has a sleek vibe and comfortable seating. This Pho joint is counter service but your order will be brought to you, which is probably a good idea- You have not seen me carry a hot bowl of anything for a reason! The Pho itself is your typical Pho but you can add freshly chopped red pepper to add some heat. The pepper really impressed me because in the states, they serve only jalapeños for added heat in Pho. The fresh red pepper added a nicer taste to the soup. The broth was great although the meat was not as tender but it didn't detract from the yumminess of this bowl of noodles. The service was great and they do speak both English and Czech. Pho Vietnam also accepts credit cards and is priced very reasonably. So yes, highly suggested for your Czech Pho Fix!!
I was surprised to find out that Vietnamese was good in Prague on my trip with my friend so we decided to come here. It did not disappoint. It's so hard to find good Vietnamese food back home, so this definitely hit the spot. There are no english menus, so we both got a pho with medium rare beef. The broth was so flavorful, and the noodles were great.
It's not like Prague is known for Asian food, but this Vietnamese spot is great! They're located in a basement so you'll have to descend a very well decorated stair case to reach them. Once you do, the food at this spacious restaurant will really hit that craving. The pork was perfectly seared. The noodles perfectly cooked. The sauces were good, but don't be intimidated by the spicy warnings because they're aren't actually spicy. The restrooms are clean and staff does speak English.
Pho lacked flavor. No traditional Asian soup spoon. Water is poured from tap and served in a bottle that is a ready opened. Would pass on this place.
