This place charges tourists more than locals, which is a kind way to say they rip off foreigners. They are very disrespectful of travelers. The owner did not itemize our bill and put a sum total after some scribble on a piece of paper. We also asked for an itemized printed bill which came back not not itemized either. When we contested our bill the owner immediately became defensive. He yelled at us and privately talked to our waitress. Our waitress then told us that it was an added gratuity but there is no mention of added gratuity anywhere on the chalkboard menu. This is a bullshit excuse and later learned through an employee that he charges foreigners more. I would not support this business if you are a tourist. The food is not exceptional in any way but the prices are attractive if you 're Czech. My advice to anyone traveling in the Czech Republic is to beware of taxis with no meters running and non itemized bills BEFORE you pay; after you pay you have no recourse. Itemize your own bill do your own math and don 't hesitate to question their integrity.
Awesome beer AND great food. We went here 2X int he week the we visited the city.
The true Czech pub. Stinks of smoke, full of everyday guests and somehow dirty, yet the vibe old building, wooden chairs, great food, fresh beer and people who work there are hartworming and welcoming. Worth the visit.
Unfortunately there are not many authentic beer pubs at Malá strana, where you could meet locals and avoid tourists. But this one is still a place, where you can experience authentic athmosphere with very well served beer (Pilsner Urquell of course) and some small traditional Czech cousine dishes like pickled herrings, country pork terrine, meat loaf, knackwurst or sausages.
