There used to be one in Hampton streets, but it is closed and their food was not very authentic. The beer garden was a very attractive restaurant in a very beautiful section of High Street in Portsmouth. Madison was our waitress and the food was delicious and service excellent. I highly recommend it.
Wow! I was very much in the mood for German food and these guys knocked it out of the park! The food was phenomenal. Not only did the menu have all the things I was looking for it had some surprising items that were also terrific. Good portions for the price and great atmosphere. Unsurprisingly, they were understaffed, everyone is right now. However, they were very upfront about it and handled it with incredible grace. I don't love the parking in this area but your mileage may vary. The quality, flavors and the fact that they clearly mark Gluten-Free items on the menu and online means we will be back.
Changing the review to reflect the current state of the restaurant. Food was ok. Service was confusing. There was 2 tables of 7ish people, one outside one inside. When we walked in we stood and waited a few minutes before someone showed up. She said someone will seat us soon. Another person walked up a few minutes later and seated us. 15 minutes later we were asked about drinks. We were ready to order but she asked away before we could say anything. When she came back we ordered but disappointed that two of the sides we wanted weren't available. The quality has taken a nose dive here. I've been dining here at least 5 years, I'm not going back.
The fried mushrooms and The lentil soup was amazing!
Always awesome food! Service was slow this time. Somewhat out of the ordinary. My wife was born and raised in Munich area. This is one of a very few German restaurants she’ll go to. Try the Aventinus beer! The best by far
