The arancini was the highlight of the meal, and the rye cavatelli was flavorful and simply delightful! While the pizza was good, it wasn't the best I've had in Portland. The sauce was thick, and the crust a bit too soft for my liking; I generally prefer a thinner sauce with a crispier crust. Nevertheless, I’m glad I tried it, but next time, I think I'll opt for pasta instead! Tipo certainly deserves 4 stars—the food was good, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was very comfortable. There is some off-street parking available, but it's wise to plan for street parking just in case. I recommend making reservations!
I keep wanting to sample different dishes, but I just can't resist the pizza. The crust is wonderfully chewy and reminds me of the pizza I had in Rome. My go-to order is the New Yorker Pizza (truly the Platonic ideal of pizza) along with the salad, which is also delightful. I've tried other pizzas at Tipo when I've needed a second one, and they were all fantastic too. One day, I’ll have to give their entrees a try!
We booked the "large group dinner family style meal" for a bachelorette party, and it was fantastic! The food was incredible, and they were very accommodating in regards to dietary restrictions. The quality and quantity of food made it definitely worth the price, along with the overall experience. Our waitress, Emily, was excellent!
This is the best restaurant in Portland, and that's really saying something--Portland is one of the best restaurant towns and I've been to a lot of them. I've been a few times, each one very memorable. Excellent curated wine list, really interesting,well-executed cocktails. And the food! If you're here for just the pizza, you're missing out big time. The small plates andpasta dishes are some of the best food I've ever had. Their chef hits the flavors of the ingredients perfectly every time. Allthe flavors are well balanced, you taste everything, nothing lost, or overpowering, or competing. I've spent a lot of moneyhere, and I plan to spend a lot more. The value is immediately apparent. All in an unassuming, tucked in a quiet neighborhood, little spot. My wife and I will talk for hours about all the food once we leave, and while we're there, the staff and ownersmade me feel well cared for, and I'm comforted that they are really passionate and know what they're doing.
Nice touch having heated seats for outdoor dining (adds to the outdoor atmosphere), as well as having a very traditional Italian drink, the Aperol Spritz. The service was very good, although we were surprised to receive our bowl of brussels (nice flavor)before the entrees and to be served serving spoons to eat the chewy cannoli. I have to say that I found the garlic breadfocaccia to be a bit spongy and the seared scallop entree to be a bit meager, although tasty. Marinated mushrooms were picante.Iam being somewhat critical based on the cost of everything. With higher prices, I expect higher quality . Overall, it was avery pleasant dining experience.
