Tamale Boy - Portland

This new up and coming spot near the popular Mississippi Ave neighborhood is incredible. I was trying to go to Por Que No? down the road and ran into the predictably long line. I looked up other restaurants in the area and decided to give Tamale Boy a try.The food was out of this world delicious. The tamales and the burrito I tried were the best I've had in quite some time. Dare Isay better than Por Que No? Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed.

The food is delicious and the staff are kind and friendly. I got the shrimp burrito with cream sauce. My mouth is in heaven every time. Their tamales are sooo good and the hot cheese dip is addictive! It is well worth driving out of your way to enjoythe food!

Came here the first the first time and was so happy by how good it was. So good that I came back a couple days later. However, this time my Brussel sprouts were burnt, the chips in my nachos were all crumbs and I found a metal wire in my tamale. Taste isstill amazing so I?ll try one more time to see which time was a fluke. (Update) Have come here several more times and thesecond time was definitely the fluke. Because every time I?ve been back since, it?s been amazing! Food is so good! Worth it

Parking was easy, no wait, staff were nice. The queso fundido is something to behold, quite larger than anyone can eat though. Nachos were amazing and the chorizo very good. My partner however hated his burrito, it was flavorless and dry. The margaritasare really sour and while the jar-drink idea can be cute, beer in a mason jar looks like piss. The awkwardly small seating ismade worse by the lack of any atmosphere, no music was playing, it felt bizarre. It's a place with a lot of potential that Imight get to-go or try again in 3months+ to see if anything is different.
