The texture of the outter part was light and soft, the fillings were very mildly sweet but were full of flavor. We ate them so quickly and forget to snap photos of them unfortunately.Food: 5/5
Yummm!! Literally some of the best veggie dumplings. I work super close to here so it’s hard not to eat them multiple times a week. It’s always the place we suggest to new coworkers as well. They make all the dumplings right there and you can just see all the hard work they put into that spot. Love the space at the counter to eat if too as an option besides the tables in the center of everything.
I tried their Shu Mai (Shaomai and cold braised noodles. I was pretty disappointed with both dishes, to be honest. The Shu Mai serving was big. However, the filling was 80-90% rice and just a tiny amount of pork and shrimp. It was not very tasty biting into practically a dumpling of rice :’ I also didn’t like how unflavored the Shu Mai was. The cold braised noodles were okay, I didn’t mind the sesame paste flavoring, but the type of noodles used did not work well with being cold. It felt like the noodles were just left out to defrost. I also wished it had some protein and more spice. I did heat the noodles on the pan once I got home, and added fish sauce. It tasted way better heated up; I think for cold noodles, the best choice would be either rice noodles or ones made from potato starch.I feel like this restaurant is not alone; in the Downtown Portland area, many ethnic cuisines seemingly decrease the spice and flavors in their dishes to appeal to the people here. Which is kind of sad cause I grew up with flavorful Chinese food back home.
Amazing! Rich broth inside of the tender dumpling. Hot sauces aren't necessary to fully enjoy the experience but they do have three tiers of heat. Husband/wife team are friendly and generous. Worth going downtown for these!Food: 5/5
These are the best dumplings I've had in Portland, and definitely my new favorite vegetarian/vegan food spot! So clearly hand made in the best way, the pan fried dough was perfect, the ingredients were varied and delicious, and the red bean paste steamed dumpling was a great dessert. Definitely come here!
