Republica - Portland

I was underwhelmed by this restaurant that I wanted to try for a long time. eating was moderate and each cure was very small. I'm not someone who needs a lot of food, but I came hungry for home. with every cursor there was a long story from the waiting staff. eat more, talk less! I felt a general ton of annoyed by waiting staff who asked each. for the steep price it was not worth a good one. I would not go back or recommend.

Such a great experience! loved eating the wee pairing, and really appreciate the thoughtful, detailed descriptions of each plate the server provided.

The food was amazing.The story they are telling of bridging the old world and new is beautiful! I love that they are preserving the history and culture in the food and feel super lucky that they are here in Portland. However do not be fooled this is a chef’s TASTING menu. Meaning portions are small. I love food and eating but, I can not eat large quantities in a sitting. All of us left still hungry. The service was a really stiff. When we got there for our reservation 90% of the tables were open. They sat us next to the door and we asked if we could have a table that wasn’t right by the entrance. They said all the tables were booked. When I asked if we would be seated at one of the open tables and when the other party comes in maybe seat them at the table by the entrance they rolled their eyes. In the end we were seated elsewhere but, after that I never felt comfortable or that I was welcomed. I always felt like I was putting them out.

Food was great. Wines were delicious. Wait staff had lots of good info to share about what we were eating

It is one of the very nice places in Portland for a special occasion dinner with a very careful selection of dishes. A chef menu small portion , well crafted a delight of the eyes and taste
