This restaurant is a short walk from our home, as such we eat her on a somewhat-regular basis. I can't speak too much to the prices for sushi, but I've always felt that the teriyaki dishes are a great value. The food has been consistently decent each time that we have eaten here, and I always enjoy the gyoza and the udon dishes. Every time I visit for lunch I order a large Asahi and a bento box and I feel like I've been transported back to my last trip to Tokyo. Definitely worth a visit!
Good food, good service, decent atmosphere. Prices are a bit high for what it is, but not ridiculous. With so many other similar Japanese restaurants around, this isn't somewhere that I would go out of my way to visit, but it's certainly not a bad option if you're in the area and want a good meal.
Just happened to stop into this little quaint hideaway in Newport Village for lunch this past Sunday. Kind of expecting not a great experience but right away the staff great you with friendly smiles. Nice calm Japanese atmosphere with soft jazz playing in the background. They gave us a booth which was nice but my wife wanted a table setting so they moved us no problem. Got green tea right away. Basic standard sushi menu, Johnny ordered a box lunch, udon veggie soup, tempura veggies and shrimp one California roll Japanese radishes. Wife ordered a couple of the usual rolls. I ordered Beef teriyaki roll, Yam Tempura roll and thought I would try the Cali Fry roll and Peanut Butter Crunch roll. They brought us a free appy of cabbage salad with a really nice vinaigrette dressing. Short wait for the food to come, they kept our tea topped up. When the food came it was one of those "WTF did I order" moments! Massive amount of food. Johnny enjoyed all his grub and wife was happy with hers. The Beef rolls were ok, nothing special just predictable. Good. The Yam Tempura was very good, maybe awesome!. The Peanut Butter rolls were very good, very rich and crunchy, loved it! But the Cali Fry rolls were totally to die for. If nothing else I would go back just for the Cali Fry. Seriously I could have had three or four rolls they were that good. Had to share with wife and she feels the same as I do We will go back and we will have Cali Fry rolls and Yam Tempura. And again very nice staff to see you out the door. Thanks you Nagano for a wonderful lunch in a lovely atmosphere. Great now I am hungry again!
I was invited to Nagano by a work colleague - she raved about the MC rolls i.e mango and avocado with cream cheese sushi and I had to test them. The sushi was awesome, so awesome that I had to take my husband to try it out too, and then I took my sister-in-law and then my. so on and so on. It is that good. The price of the sushi is on the higher side but the quality is good and it is well prepared. Service is outstanding and the staff are very friendly. I recommend everyone should try this sushi outlet.
