We went with our son and D-in-law as we've done before. Rather than each person ordering an entree we ordered a few appies and a few main courses. We had lamb, chicken, seafood and goat. We asked for medium spices - they came as ordered and all were excellent
My wife and I have been going to this restaurant for the past 3 years and thought it appropriate to write a review of our experiences.First off, a big 'Thank You' to Mr Bhatt and all his staff for their wonderful hospitality. As for the food, we have been to many Indian restaurants over the years and found this one to be among the best. We tried many items off their menu, including their Mango Lassi. deadly good and also a good way to cool the heat of a vindaloo. I noted that there were previous comments about the staff, and would agree that some things have been missed and attention to detail falls by the way side, but if asked nicely, they are perfectly willing to accommodate. To be perfectly honest, we are here for the good food.Another item to note is the decor. Certainly not the best we've seen, but certainly acceptable for the size of operation to let you know that you are in an East Indian restaurant.Selfishly, we would like to keep this little gem a secret for ourselves, but believe that they deserve the recognition as one of the best East Indian restaurants in the lower mainland. The reason for not giving 5 stars is that only goes to 1 restaurant of our choosing. We will be returning again and have mentioned to many of our friends.Bon Appetite.
Ate here this evening with my wife and friends. The service was great but the butter chicken was very mediocre. It needed cream which it appeared it had none of. I had to double check that our friends did not get our dish as ours was merely tomato instead of a rich buttery cream sauce. The Saag Aloo and chicken pakoras were pretty good. Our friends enjoyed their dishes. Sadly we won't be returning as we were underwhelmed this visit.
Went there with a few people from work., Initially we were the only ones there and the server was grumpy that we were there at all. They took forever to take our drink order and when my drink arrived (white wine) - it was off. I told our server and he disagreed with me and wouldn't get me a different glass of wine. I was told that they had a 3L box open, with 2.5 L left and so it couldn't be off, but I know my wine and it was definitely on the vinegar side. Then, we ordered food and when we told our server that one more was coming, he just hadn't arrived yet, he was grumpy again! Food was OK. Meh. I am English, so definitely know my curries and really, it was on the greasy side of things. My kids had wanted take-away, so I ordered some bits to take home and really, it was super unsuccessful. The pilau rice was gloopy and flavourless, the chicken vindaloo was greasy. I ordered tandoori chicken wings to start and they leaked all over my bag - I had been expecting something dry-ish, but they were so greasy and the fat was all squidgy on the wings. The naan bread was soggy....all in all, I just can't imagine I'd ever go back and I live in Port Moody, so it's pretty sad. A local customer lost - on the back of very poor service and poor quality food.
