Taberna Acor - Ponta Delgada

Lovely tavern with what amounts to gourmet bar food and tapas, made with love at very reasonanle prices. Popular with locals as well as some savy tourists, we got there early which proved lucky since it filled up fast. Very nice ambiance in a cozy little space, the nice lady knew exactly how much we should order and took away our menus after we had surpassed that amount! We had fava beans, blood sausage with pineapples, pork skin which was really (delicious) ribs, and tomato fresh cheese bruschetta, plus a huge beer and a basket of warm bread and Sao Jorge cheese, all for under 10 Euro. Food was delicious, fresh and perfectly seasoned even to my demanding New Orleans palette. This was the best meal we had in Ponta Delgada, on the diagonal avenue of merchants (a narrow painted street like an alley) right in the middle of downtown. It was worth the effort to find it as few of the other places were anywhere near this nice. Food like this can be had in the States but at 5 times the cost. Recommended!

Beautiful place with cheap and delicious food in the center of Ponta Delgada. The staff is really kind and professional. Also, you get a feel like home. I definitely suggest it and I am going there again for a cocktail and some food at least, for sure.

Always full, not possible to make a reservation : no answer on the phone, no answer to email... we have no personnel to answer the phone... This is the type of restaurant that is so good, that it is always complete anyway, whatever they do, thet get away with it, there are always more customers than there are seats... A real pity...

One of the few restaurants open on a Sunday in Ponta Delgada. They do not take reservations so essential to be queuing before 6.30 pm!. It has a great pub-like atmosphere. The food is well cooked but nothing fancy. There was no salad dressing or bread. Very good red house wine by the glass. Everything cheap.

Loved the Hot Springs in Parque Terra Nostra 10 Euros pp) . Loved even more the ocean hot springs in Ferraria for free 5. Good waves in Praia de Santa Barbara and Praia do Pópulo if you want to learn how to surf, waves big enough for amateurs 6. And best of all, there is a religious Festa every day . One week per town, if you are not religious, you can still enjoy the free festivals at night with great food (inexpensive), music, dance, fireworks, etc. Best festival in Agua de Pau always August 15 for one week Aug 12-18.
