Xuxa no Dedo is a mandatory go to point if you are keen to try one of the oldest azorean pastries. It is run by Paulo a very friendly and professional guy that will be happy to explain you the history behind it and serve you a delicious malassada, either traditional or with fillings. W/ passion fruit jam is my favorite. Look for the striped green Piaggio 50 downtown

My daughter was craving Malassadas when we arrived on the island and I looked to see where we could get some. I stumbled upon the trip advisor post for Xuxa no Dedo, which was listed as parking across from the apartment we rented! We kept looking every night and finally he arrived on Monday night! We headed straight over when he put up his canopy! Although a different taste from the dough used in the United States, we were not disappointed by our treat. We got the traditional with the sugar. Enjoy!!!
