I chose the lasagna you see on the photo, and it is best described as a bowl of cheese with noodles, meat sauce, spices and pepperoni sprinkled. It was really wonderful enough for me to make 2 meals. If cheese gives you problems, this is not for you, but it is still amazing. The service was amazing. Very attentive to my constantly drained cup of chocolate coke. Yeah, chocolate. It's not for everyone, but I loved it. I will definitely visit often and repeat this lunch again. Definitely worth a visit if you only visit the area or visit when you are a local. Enjoy!
If you want great food, wonderful customer service, and to feel like you 've gone back in time then this is the place for you! TJ has excellent people skills up front and Steve has excellent cooking skills in the back so it 's a win win scenario! The milkshakes are huge and come with a refill cup every time! They have 2 famous(infamous is more like it) recipes from a long lost restaurant in Chapel Hill affectionately called the Rat- lasagna (bowl of cheese) and the Gambler(marinated skirt steak served on a sizzling hot cast iron pan with grilled onions on top and covered in a pile of steak fries with garlic bread high on top) both are to die for! If you want a sammich I recommend trying the sunflower bread which is made in a local bakery and is a Pittsboro specialty. The burgers and soups are great and the ice cream is sure to make you happy! Great place to take the family or friends or to take a visitor to give them a Kool place to talk about later! When you go and they take your drink order tell TJ you want the BEST cherry Coke he has ever made and he will know Kevin sent you!
Great old time dinner where you can get everything from burgers to banana splits! The staff are friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is inviting and old timey without feeling dated. The food is delicious! There is nothing you could find fault with in this shop, just go and have a great time!
A small piece of nostalgia that warms the heart. Found this place on a whim as I was heading back to my town. It had a real home feeling. As I looked around, the servings were hefty. And the ice cream served in the old fashion soda shoppe containers. A la carte menu style (meal and sides sold separate). Chicken quesadilla took up the whole plate it was served on. Came with tortilla chips and homemade salsa (made to perfection I would say). Tomato basil soup was a tasty haven. Grilled cheese on wheat and some ruffle chips. Thi is a place I would definitely make the hour drive for a scoop or 3.
It took me far too long to write this review and note of THANKS! If I had the option of giving 10 stars, I most certainly would! I had the pleasure of hosting my son?s UNC graduation party at S T boy, was it a hit! My guests are still raving about it 2 years later! The setting was nostalgic, food was phenomenal and the service provided by Vicky, family staff was second to none! They housed us in the private party room upstairs and we dined on the Rat classic ?Gambler? and delicious Lasagna! We ended with desserts from their endless ice cream selections, sipping on delicious shakes dancing the night away! If you are looking for a place to hold a ?not so stuffy? graduation party, you should definitely consider S T?s Soda Shoppe! Best decision ever!!
