Hillcrest View Inn - Pictou

Please note that this restaurant has been renamed to the "Lantern Restaurant" and is now located at the same site as the former establishment. If you are looking for the motel with the same name, it is now called Hillcrest Vives Inn. The restaurant offers simple yet delicious food, with particularly tasty seafood chowder and a satisfying seafood soup. While we did not try the lobster dishes, the clams with sweet potatoes were delicious. The dessert is also worth mentioning, as it was a nice, homey touch. The service was excellent, with the waitress providing attentive and friendly service.

This little motel is out of the sixties but the rooms are spacious and clean. The attached restaurant offered some interesting local choices at good prices. This is a nice spot to drop your bags for a stopover if you are touring or golfing in the area.

One of my missions in Nova Scotia was to track down good seafood chowder - and thx to Tripadvisor, we did... Hillcrest View had the Best Seafood Chowder - so much seafood in one bowl yummmmmm

Always enjoy stopping at the Hillcrest. Their chowder is delicious and FULL of seafood!!! Delicious fish and burger.

The Hillcrest View Restaurant in Pugwash, NS (on the route between Pugwash and Wallace, directly across from the Firehall) is usually very good. We could have had our water pitcher refilled and the meal was a bit slow being served on our most recent visit but the menu selections and the food itself were great. Portions are more than adequate and the food is well-prepared.Air conditioning (or lack of it) is a bit of a problem on these humid days. On one visit our group sat close to the air conditioner which enabled us to stay cool but the air conditioner is so loud it was difficult to hold a discussion. During a second group visit we had a table at the back which we had requested. It was very good for conversing but the impact of the air conditioner didn't penetrate that area. Overall, however, we would definitely give this establishment a strong rating. It is well worth a visit.
