I had been here before, a few years ago and remember it being really nice if not a little expensive. This time round it was pretty much the same, the food and the service are amazing (like really really great) but the servings are smaller than you'd expect for the price but I guess we are in the heart of the cbd here. The food I will talk about in more detail below, I do want to note that the service we received was perfect (in my opinion). The waitress made sure we were happy, came back only when she needed to and didn't bug us or ask us things unnecessarily. Observant, to the point and pleasant perfect. The atmosphere of the cafe is cute, dark, and nice. It's a very small restaurant, so a downfall is that sometimes you do feel as though you are sitting on other people. I got the cheese gnocchi (which is a must try), the gnocchi melts in your mouth, and the cheese sauce has depth of flavour. Friends enjoyed other pasta dishes and the ones I tried were just as tasty. We all also grabbed dessert. These took their time coming out but we're OH SO worth it so delicious and rich. Most of us got the self saucing pudding which was so so so good. I definitely recommend Covo for a date night or a small friends dinner if you are in town I just wish they had another outlet not in the city that was a little bigger for bigger groups!
Good place for a simple diner. Food is good and fresh ! This part of Fort street is quiet enought to eat outside.
I 've heard a few good things about Covo, such as how it is some of the best Italian in Auckland, so I was quite excited to dine here the other night. Sadly however I have to say I was really disappointed with the meal that I got I ordered a simple pizza with mozarrella, tomato base and rocket, however the base didn 't even seem to be cooked right through and there was definitely way too much cheese and not enough rocket. Not quite the 'authentic ' Italian that I was expecting. The service however was very friendly and nice, which kind of makes me feel bad for writing a bad review.... Oh well. As long as they get their pizzas sorted then maybe I will come back again.
Fort Street can be many things. Seedy, trendy, interesting, dirty, crowded, quiet, and the list goes on. There isn't a lot that draws me to this part of town. I find it a bit weird because though it is right in the middle of the city and close to many great establishments, it's a bit meh, This could be due to it being home to a number of really gross looking strip clubs/massage parlours or whateveeuphemisim you'd like to give them. What i'm trying to say is that Covo is the main reason I venture here. It's is relatively unassuming from the outside which makes the yummyness of the pizza even more surprising. I had heard good things about Covo long before I visited and had been together in the city. The service is awesome at Covo, and you'll often get a pretty hunky (yes, hunky) Italian serving you, which is never a bad thing. The pizza is so so good. Really simple, fresh, flavoursome varieties that taste liek the real deal. I can't speak for anything else on the menu because I can never go past the pizza, but i'm sure it's great.
Really satisfied with this amazing restaurant. The foods were great and the service was good
