La Rosa Southwestern Dining

I called to find out that the restaurant has permanently closed. It will be replaced by a new restaurant in October.

I only had chips and salsa along with some drinks, but it was a lovely place to stop for the afternoon. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Kari was an excellent waitress. The food was fantastic. Overall, I would rate the food, service, and atmosphere each a perfect 5 out of 5.

Since we were celebrating but also trying to stick to our diet, my wife and I decided to share a 10-ounce steak, requesting it to be cooked rare. However, when we received the oddly shaped, half-inch-thick steak, it was cooked more towards medium. Although cooking a thin steak rare can be tricky, it is certainly possible. We tried it but ended up sending it back. The second attempt was slightly better but still not quite right—a strange cut of beef with multiple small muscles and gristle, resembling a shoulder chop. It didn't have any noticeable Southwest flavor, and we found it pretty disappointing in both size and quality considering the price. The usual rice and black beans were bland and unremarkable. Mike kindly brought us Tres Leches cake to make up for the steak, which was rich and tasty, though it’s not really my preferred dessert. In summary, I would recommend ordering their traditional Mexican dishes like Chicken Mole rather than the steak, which was quite lackluster. My wife and I have decided to find another place for our celebratory dinner tomorrow.
