Not to be confused with the Refugio Resciesa this mountain-side restaurant/lodge is well below the tree-line. Very cute inside the bar area and lots of that mountain-woodsy feel to the place. The strudel was quite good with our coffees and the lady serving us was gracious. A large southern exposure balcony is the place to be on a warm sunny winter day. We took the funicular train up the mountain hoping for views above the tree line although not the case you do have a terrific long range view of the Saslong across the valley. The clouds around the dramatic rock peak gave it a sort of Mount Mordor feel straight out of Lord of the Rings novels. 20 euros for return ticket or if you already have a dolomiti ski pass then it 's covered. In winter best reason for going up there is to hire a sled at the base station and luge down the trail to the half way station and repeat the trip. Lots of giggling teens and squealing kids with Mom and Dad can attest to that. Look closely in the forest as train climbs the slope; we saw several deer grazing in the forest.
After a short day snowboarding at Seceda, we thought we'd make use of our lift pass and go up the funicular Resciesa for lunch. What a delightful stube, friendly staff helped us find seats at a (shared) table, and we had a nice classic alpine lunch.
I have lived and worked I resorts for decades and there's no excuse for rude, haughty, obnoxious wait staff. We were ignored for over 30 minutes during a fairly busy time, while the staff visited with their friends and checked their cell phones and fawned over a table of obviously wealthy people. When I got fed up and pulled out a sandwich, we were almost instantly told that we couldn't bring in our own food and then the arrogant young waiter walked off as I attempted to place an order. This was truly a once in a lifetime experience: I will never go back.
