This was a favourite place to eat. The meals were large and very good quality. A nice cafe in a square, off the main drag, where children could run in and out of little fountains.
We, a party of four, ordered the following: each of us a small side salad x pasta combinazione x rigatoni with sauce x pizza other items: mineral water beer, wine etc. The service was friendly and...at a good pace. Some remarks though: in Germany, you can call a water mineral water only when you bring the water in an original bottle, unopened to the table there were no markings on the wine glasses to show the volume (Generally, in Germany you should have this or as an alternative, wine is served from a little jug which shows the contents, usually litre) The pasta with the cheese sauce would have needed some color. White pasta with a white sauce on a white plate. The pasta combinazione was just convenience tortellini and different noodles, tomato sauce, the top layer gratinated with cheese. Edible and okay. The happiest of all was the person having the pizza. That seemed to be the best pick. The side salads had very little dressing or rather just brown vinegar on them, the few pieces of cucumber and the grated carrots were beneath the green salad leaves. This was the worst salad I've had in years. I think that small adjustments like serving salad witha a made-from-scratch dressing and less items on the menu would improve the quality. The location in the city centre is quite good, the ambiance okay, the food rather mediocre than good.
A decent cheap meal on the Marktplatz in Offenburg. Good value food (pizzas, etc decent draught beer and other drinks at reasonable prices, nice outdoor seating area. We went as a pretty large group one afternoon, and that seemed to faze the staff a little...bit a few furrowed brows and scowling faces in evidence, although they were pleasant enough with us.
We stopped here for a drink to get out of the rain. Food was very cheap but looked OK so as we were watching the vintage cars in the square we ordered chicken cordon bleu with chips and it was served very quick and was...very tasty and filling. Service was very good and we enjoyed our meal.
