The Satellite Coffee Shop Cappuccion

The restaurant was quite busy when we arrived. We had to write down our name ourselves since it was the server's first day, and she didn't speak any English. Once we were seated, our waitress—who was also in training—had limited English skills. Despite that, the service was good, and the food was enjoyable. I ordered the surfer boy, while my wife chose the surfer girl. The main difference was that the surfer girl came with French toast (which has received high praise from other reviewers), whereas the surfer boy included pancakes and two eggs. The food was tasty, but when we added a tip for the two of us, the total came to nearly $50, which might seem a bit much for just eggs and toast. It's up to you to decide if it's worth it.

Satellite Cafe has been our go-to spot for breakfast for over a decade. They serve great coffee, have friendly staff, and offer an extensive menu, even after COVID when many places downsized theirs. My only small disappointment during this visit was the use of paper plates and plastic utensils. I can't help but wonder—unless they're washing dishes by hand, don't dishwashers sanitize everything? But that's a minor issue considering everything else they do so well. I was thrilled to find my favorite dish, the Chesapeake Sarah, still on the menu, even if it is a bit unconventional. It consists of hash brown potatoes topped with eggs cooked to your liking and smothered in their homemade creamed chipped beef (which I love because it’s not too salty) and finished with a sprinkle of Old Bay. Interestingly, there’s no seafood, which is usually expected with this seasoning, but somehow it all just works together and is absolutely delicious. A special shout out to Vlad, who has been our efficient server for many years!

Dine-in is available! I took my wife here for breakfast during her birthday weekend, and she absolutely loved it. The menu has an extensive variety, and the coffee was delicious. My wife ordered the Satellite French Toast, and she was thrilled with it. The slices were quite large! I went for The Mess with sausage gravy, which was my favorite part of the meal. The atmosphere is calm and inviting, and the staff is fantastic. This has become our go-to spot for breakfast whenever we visit OC.

Satellite’s food was out of this world. Very small intimate setting that was quirky enough to capture your gaze as you look around. The service was very good and the prices were reasonable. Our waitress was very friendly and energetic. The pancakes were delicious and makes my mouth water just thinking of them. The omelette was also good but not great. If you are looking for some good breakfast I would definitely recommend this place to everyone.

Breakfast and Bar!!! The servers were great especially the bar tinder lol. The food was also great! We’ll definitely be back here next summer!
