Great venue for those with special dietary needs and for those who just want to eat clean. Great salads, sweet treats.
We had breakfast at the branch of Primal Pantry on Given Terrace at Paddington. Quiet on a Sunday morning, for a reason. Not a fan of paleo but happy to step outside my comfort zone with this. The food was bland and lukewarm and I wouldn't hurry back to paleo but that wasn't the problem as much as the service and environment. All the tables were unwiped for a start. My son's poached eggs (caveman plate) arrived hard-boiled and my broccoli fritters were gritty - even stony - suggesting unwashed vegies/herbs: ironic in a cafe championing 'clean' food at every turn. When my son asked for a second piece of bread to have with his meal he waited 15 minutes before asking again, and even then it took another five minutes for the bread, lightly glazed with kitchen refuse, to arrive. This delay and problems with our meals certainly weren't the result of cook and staff being rushed off their feet serving the 2-3 tables taken while we were there. Simple suggestion: don't bother. The meals aren't cheap and certainly aren't worth putting up with poor service and worrying hygiene practices.
Well, this is actually the first place where my complaint revolves around the fact that the seats are really uncomfortable. I came here to, well, try out their coffee and to spend some time tapping away on my Laptop and discovered that the seats here were pretty shocking. In fact it made it really difficult to actually use my laptop. Okay, these were the high seats next to the benches and as soon as a normal table became free I moved straight to that one, however that is the one thing that really stuck in my mind. The coffee was okay though, and the staff were pretty nice as well.
My best friend and I caught up for a coffee last week and we wanted to try one of the local cafes in my area. The Primal Pantry was the closest so we went there. I was so impressed by the man who served us and I was equally impressed that they make their own coconut and almond milk as well as supporting local dairies for their cows milk. It is in a good location for morning coffee as we got to sit in the wonderful winter morning sunshine. The coffee was delightful, so I will certainly be back.
