Sunday 25th July We enjoyed a very pleasant meal here today. My granddaughter has a dairy and soya allergy which I notified the restaurant of when I booked the table. On arrival at the restaurant the waiting staff were aware of this and were able to advise what food she could eat. Very impressed. All workers we encountered were very professional and we had a lovely evening. The only problem was that for suite the only thing my granddaughter could have was sorbet. Sadly there was some confusion as we were told that there was none left by some staff and that there was by others. When our suites arrived she was sat there with no pudding after a conversation with the waiting staff lo and behold sorbet was found. Although annoying this was dealt with very well by the workers and it all worked Out well. Very surprised when all the suites were deducted from the bill. The sign of great service is how things are dealt with when things go wrong. Riverside dealt with the problem in a superb way. Great food, great service, lovely surroundings. Particularly impressed with how pre notified allergies were acknowledged and suggestions made Well done guys, would recommend
This is such a lovely venue but the service lets it down. I have been on 3 different occasions now and nothing has improved. There doesn't appear to be anyone managing the restaurant. There is no warm welcome upon arrival. You feel that nobody is allocated to your table for service. Everything is ad hoq. On the last visit this month, the starters arrived before our drinks. We weren't given all available menus. We were surrounded by tables littered with dirty dishes. We had no condiments on our table. We sat right up the the back in a booth and felt forgotten about as there was nobody around to ask for an additional drinks order. If this hotel wants to attract weddings then they need to step it up. It feels like the staff are untrained and have no set structure about how to provide good service. Highly disappointing. On a positive note the steak pie was delicious but unfortunately the fish that my daughter had was full of large bones.
Layout and decor lovely. Service slow and sporadic. We sat in a booth and no one was circulating so didn’t clear the table and we had to ask for our second course. In terms of Covid hygiene they need to up their game. There was one table we saw with three different parties using it and no one moved glasses or cleaned the tables in between customers. We did enjoy the food although had to ask for side plates for our shared tapas. We would come back but would ensure we cleaned our table before we sat down and be prepared to have a long leisurely meal. Drinks were fab- best French Martini in ages. Bar staff friendly and helpful. Some of the staff are a wee bit short on customer service training but overall a good night out.
The restaurant recently introduced a takeaway service, which was a great idea. We had to book in advance as it was very popular, and we were given a specific time to collect our order. The process was well-organized and the staff were lovely. My only complaint is that the chicken tempura batter was soggy, likely due to being kept in a polystyrene container. It would have been better to use aluminum trays like Chinese takeaways do. Additionally, there was no salad or sweet chili sauce included, making it not worth the money. However, the rest of the meals were great. It was nice to try something different during these challenging times.
