Try the plat de dégustation (for persons) and combine it with their excellent salade Nicoise and a nice bottle of red wine. Theres a little stage with guitars and a piano...and if your Lucky some local visitor(s) picks up the instruments and start playing. The waitress was super friendly.
We only had pan bagnat to take away, but they were delicious and service was very friendly! Next time we’ll eat in.
We had a traditional pissaladière which was very good, I had another one at a fancier restaurant the following evening which I didn’t like nearly as much. We also had there Pan Bagnat, which was basically a tuna sandwich with a delicious bun, like a...small slider sandwich. That was pretty good too. But the specialty here is clearly the pastor which is made by someone local and you can choose your sauce. We had the gnocchi with travels and then mine was with the mushrooms. They were both very good. There is also a heated wooden terrace outside which might be attractive for people who smoke.
Everyone raved about this place so I got really excited. I ordered three Veggie options, no real socca available?! The socca chips were given in a bag and were fresh out of carrefour. The tomatoe tart was absolutely dripping in oil and was not easy...to eat. The salad was supposed to be a speciality but when it arrived it was lettuce and one slice of tomatoe. Not impressed at all. Even the people I was eating with who ordered meat options were not impressed. In the old part of town you can get real Nice specialities for half the price, twice the choice and three times more flavour. Won't be returning.
We stayed in Nice in early August and we're looking for a quick lunch near our hotel when we arrived. We enjoyed a table on their very small patio and ordered the olive tapenade and two salade Nicoise. Both were very good, reasonably priced for the tapenade and bread, and Euros each for the salads) and delicious. The service was typically French, and prompt. We stayed at the Ibis Palais des Congres and this was just around the corner. A great choice for a casual meal.
