Newcastle Griddle

Give a 3-star review because we have a good experience coming here for the first time. For the second time? When we arrived, there were about 5 empty tables. The waitress said we should get someone from them. Although we were a party of 2, we chose a table of 4 because the tables were for 2 in extremely unpleasant spots. We were then asked to move to another table when more people came later, which was annoying, but we understood. So we are moved to a table of or 2 standing on the wall in a corner. And since more people are sitting, we finally found ourselves wedged in this corner without being able to get out. The waitress had to press behind another table to bring us our food. The service was decent until then. But unfortunately we sat for 20 minutes with empty plates that wanted to check out, but our waitress was nowhere to see. My husband had to go to the bar twice to find her, and once she didn't even remember our table. I understand that it was busy and I could say that all waiters worked hard and clearly overwhelmed, but the corner we were sitting was already so crowded and unpleasant, so long had to wait to make it worse. This place could definitely use more organization and a better layout. Not good if a waitress can get barley on your table.

The breakfast was quite good, although not particularly remarkable. Unfortunately, the home fries lacked flavor. On the bright side, the eggs and meat were excellent. The waitress seemed a bit forgetful, but she appeared to be the only one working, which might explain it. The outdoor patio is lovely, but keep in mind that the street can be quite busy.

This place is terrible. The service took a coffee forever. Then I had to wait 20 minutes to get sugar. The food was terrible. I got a bacon sandwich and they put 2 pieces of bacon on it. Manager came out and said if I wanted more bacon, I would have to pay more for it. Don't go to this place.

This is a charming little restaurant. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. We're really enjoying the new terrace; it's a lovely spot to relax and savor a meal. We had a wonderful time dining there and would happily return. We're proud to support this small business!

Terrible service. I heard the food was good, so went with my fiancé and his mother today. I ordered hot water and lemon to go with my meal and 15 minutes later it had not arrived. In the meantime, my fiancé and his mother (both white) were immediately served with their drinks. I'm finally on the server and she told me I had to wait because the boiler was extremely slow. After another 7min wait, she finally brought the hot water into a leak pot together with a dirty cup. She told me the lemon was missing because lemons were cut so I had to wait. The lemon came a lot later when my appetite was gone. Interestingly, the server brought the food orders for my fiancée and his mother while mine later came served by someone else. I had to get out. As a black person, I was not impressed. Shabby service from this server is appalling.
