The surrounding restaurants give you twice the portion. Large and small sangria options also pricey. Friendly and attentive staff. A good vibe for drinks with friends and tapas. A romantic dinner not so much.
If you're in Newark and looking for a banger of a restaurant, than this is the place! Absolutely a phenomenal choice! Potatas Bravas were pehenomal, as was the chorizo in red wine reduction. This is as close to a true Spanish tapas bar as you'll find in the USA. Hipefuy you'll have Fabio as your bartender. He's aaster behind the bar, as well as the most knowledgeable member of their staff for tapas ordering.
This was my first time at this spot in Iron bound. The theme is odd, but Generally Spanish culture. It was a dark urban chic restaurant. It's not very big. They have a tapas menu with some great options. If you drink socially, this place has that friendly vibe for that. The dessert and tapas presentation were awesome. I would recommend. Finding parking can be challenging.
Tasty drinks, their bread and salsa (free) was delicious, and the flatbread was so flavorful. Coffee and desert (flan) was the perfect way to end our midday snack. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very attentive and helpful but have us privacy between checking in on us. I would recommend if you are near Newark Penn Station!
The iron bound section of Newark has so many great authentic Portuguese and Spanish restaurants. Stay along or around Ferry st. The food is feel good dishes. Food portions are large. The food at Mompou was fresh a delicious
