Ransom Wines - New Zealand

I went to this restaurant with my husband and daughter for lunch and we were impressed by the food, which lived up to the high praise we had heard. The platter we ordered looked amazing and tasted delicious, with everything made fresh on site. The wine selection was excellent and the beautiful surroundings added to the overall experience, making it a memorable lunch. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Our small group had a delightful afternoon at this charming location, enjoying a beautiful long platter made from old wine barrels loaded with tasty, fresh bites. We paired our meal with a bottle of their lovely Vin Gris rose and also sampled other wines by the glass including a rare red carmenere, pinot gris, and sweet pinot gris, all of which were excellent. We brought our own dessert as the restaurant does not offer any, but we were warmly welcomed by the owners who explained the menu concept and shared information about their delicious olive oil, made from their own olives. They generously kept our bread baskets filled without us having to ask. Although we were surprised they didn't discuss the wines before we ordered, the detailed descriptions on the menu made up for it. Having visited other wineries in the region, I can confidently say that Ransom Wines is among the best.

This was the best surprise visit to a vineyard! Maybe it was because it was a gorgeous summer day, but the setting was amazing. The staff was welcoming, and very well-informed about the wine tastings (although I wouldn't mind bigger pours). The platters were exceptional (definitely recommend trying them) and the wines were delicious. I appreciated that they grow their own grapes and produce all the wine on site.

I bought a grabone lunch voucher for this restaurant, and I went with my mum. The food included in the voucher was a platter, which had your normal bread, dips,salami meats, veges and cheese... It was very nicely presented with a wide range of selections. The only downside for me was that they only gave us 2 pieces of cheese, which was just not enough... For wine, we had a bottle of 2011 carmenere red wine, and it was quite nice. The services were good, and beautiful environment. I would definitely return and recommend to my friends.

A very enjoyable return visit for us to Ransom. We love their platters with the freshest of ingredients, great variety, fantastic flavours and presentation. Absolutely perfect for sharing as a couple or a group. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed with a pleasant outlook over the vines, away from the noise and distraction of the main highway. One of our favourite vineyards to visit.
