It's not your typical meat and potatoes establishment. Everything we tried was outstanding! The Shrimp appetizer was amazing, and the Dory fish special was delicious, although it could have benefited from a little less time in the ocean. The atmosphere and service were exceptional, surpassing any 5-star rating. This may not be everyone's cup of tea, but for me, it was simply exquisite.
Fabulous meals and the hostess was also the owner. So sweet with fabulous service. I had the Peri Peri Prawns and it was spectacular with the perfect amount of spicy flavors. My husband had the lamb which was by far some of the best world wide. I know New Zealand is known for lamb and they did not disappoint. Many in party had the salmon and that looked equally good but I did not ask.
I visited Plume as part of a Christmas party on a dull afternoon. Fortunately, the staff at Plume were enthusiastic about hosting groups for lunch, which lifted our spirits. We began with a brief wine tasting featuring selections from The Runner Duck and Heron's Flight, before indulging in a delectable wine-infused lunch inside and later in the spacious gazebo. I enjoyed a fantastic vegetarian platter tailored to my preferences, while my colleagues started with oyster shots. While I savored my meal, my coworkers delighted in the crispy duck leg and fresh catch of the day. Despite some mixed reviews, I was thoroughly pleased with the food, service, and atmosphere at Plume. I would definitely return for another visit!
My friends and I went to Plume for a late lunch on Saturday. We tried the Fish of the day, which was kingfish with cauliflower puree and clams. The clams were fresh and juicy, and the puree was a definite highlight of the dish. The passionfruit and mango cheesecake was delicious, very creamy and paired well with the tangy sauce. However, I wasn't a fan of the creme brulee as it was too eggy for my taste. The service was fantastic, our waiter was attentive but not intrusive. Since we arrived late in the day (around 1:30 and left at 4:00), the restaurant was not too busy, making our experience even more relaxing and enjoyable.
Plume is situated about an hour north of Auckland in the beautiful area of Matakana. We made the journey on Saturday and were so glad we had gone to the effort as the food and wine was fantastic. The staff were very invitational and looked after our group extremely well. Each course was visually pleasing and this was matched by the amazing flavour combinations. I had the duck and three at the table enjoyed the fillet steak.Jude had the pork belly which she raved about, The desserts were beautifully presented and a very satisfying way to finish our meal. All menu choices were excellent . Rose is one of the wines of this region and the Herons Flight option was easy to enjoy. The food is definitely the reason to come here and the wines made at the vineyard are very good.
