Yves - New York

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. While the service was good, the food left much to be desired, scoring only a 3 out of 10. The Poulet au citron lacked the lemon flavor it should have had, and the couscous felt like an insult to my heritage. The zaalouk was decent but could definitely use more seasoning. I found it quite troubling that at least 50 percent of the menu is Moroccan, while the restaurant claims to be French. This feels like a case of cultural appropriation at its worst.

I like to be generous when reviewing local businesses, but unfortunately, our experience here fell short. We ordered our steak medium rare, but it came out medium well. The server was nearly absent throughout our meal, and we didn't receive one of the items we ordered. To top it off, it took nearly two hours for what should have been a simple dinner. The food was decent, at best about a B/B-. The location is fantastic, which makes it all the more disappointing that the restaurant didn’t live up to its potential.

I dined at Yves this week and found the atmosphere quite pleasant, with friendly and helpful staff. However, it was a bit too dark, and the music could be lowered a bit. Unfortunately, the meal itself was disappointing. The lamb shank was an unusual cut, primarily consisting of bone, and appeared to have been butchered poorly around a joint (the knee). The dish was only lukewarm and cold inside, lacking in seasoning and flavor. The mussels were served in a sauce that was quite unappealing, and as an entrée, they were only mediocre. While Yves boasts a nice location and ambiance in an area filled with dining options, I believe there are far better food choices nearby.

Delicious red snapper and asparagus salad and peach ice cream and loved it. Service was fantastic and ambiance was warm and cozy. I will definitely go there again.

Fries with four dipping sauces, excellent! Escargot with puffed pastry shell, not so good. Mussels, also not very good for French-American fusion. Cocktails, amazing! Pasta was overcooked, under-seasoned, and generally, not very appealing. The drinksare strong, robust, well-made, balanced, and delicious! The view at sunset, wonderful!
