5 star for the food and ambiance. Bratwurst is juicy, meaty but elegantly so. Attention has been given to the details. Sauerkraut is not a salty and boring one. Even scallion is a nice one and provide nice contrast to an overall slightly oil dish (but again nicely so). Good to pair the dish with a glass of Blaufränkisch from Mittelburgenland. Sachertorte is certainly classic and I would recommend the Sabarskytorte too. Rum adds complexity and layers to the chocolate cake without overpowering. We visited on a Saturday night and there is a live piano performance. Service is adequate but not particularly remarkable.
Food 3/5 Location 5/5 Wait 4/5 Staff 4/5 I heard that this was the place to go in New York for cakes so I went there with the sole purpose of getting a great New York cheesecake. Now it may have been that my expectations were too high, but I was rather disappointed by it. Both the top and bottom of the cheesecake had a regular cake consistency which made it very light and nothing like a cheesecake I was expecting. They are right next to Central Park which is phenomenal and east to get to by subway. The wait is outside and split by museum or restaurant and ended up being only 15-20 minutes which was not too bad for New York. The prices were a bit higher than I am use to which coffee being about $10 but that is not unexpected in New York. Overall, It could be that their other options were better and I just chose the wrong one but I would get one of the other cakes if you plan on going.
Some good deserts but kind of overhyped for the price. This place was recommended to me as the best place for deserts in NYC. The line to get in was quite long but in the meantime you can buy a ticket to the Galery and explore the art pieces which are amazing. The hot chocolate isn't worth it at all in my opinion. I'd have preferred a true melted chocolate based one instead and a lot darker for true chocolate flavours. The hazelnut chocolate cake was fantastic. Great flavours, textures and balanced sweetness. A desert as I love them. The cheesecake wasn't great; my partner couldnt finish it (and yet ate a lot of my chocolate hazelnut cake) and even the few bites I took were enough for me to just not want to eat it anymore. Staff are fast, to the point and friendly. The atmosphere in this place is unique and worth a visit, but I would stick to the hazelnut chocolate cake just once and then order the cake to go.
Great day at Neue Galerie Museum for German and Austrian Art in New York City. If you ever decide to dine in, you have to try... 1. Spring Pea Soup with fresh Mint Herb Oil 2. Adele Schnitte Passion Fruit, Coconut Mousse Cake. See Forbes article below to learn about the Mousse Cake. I would definitely order the mousse cake again.
