Chan's Garden Chinese & Western Restaurant

We were cold and tired of subway and other places. Went in and it is a nice place and then all of sudden there was a flow of people picking up orders... We ate and thought nothing of it... but a dinner for two came under $18 for two people..... on October 19th.We were there on October 25th and it was great.

Food was excellent and hot even though I had to take home. Best Chinese food I've had in a long time. Would recommend to everyone to at least try your favourite dish.

441 East Columbia St is the correct address.We ordered dinner for 3 to try this restaurant out, and we are really glad we did!I ordered over the phone and picked up at the restaurant.The order taker was pleasant. Arriving at the restaurant it was great to be able to park right out front.The first impression inside the restaurant was fresh, and CLEAN! Unusual for a chinese place in my experience. It smelled - like nothing - which was a good thing! The new tables, very clean washed floors, tasteful room divider to the back part of the restaurant, even the payment counter was sleek and calm. Calm is the word that is perfect for this place.The woman who waited on me was polite and friendly to me, and to the other customer ahead of me. The staff looked so polished in black uniforms.Getting the food home took about 15 minutes. Even so, all the food was still very warm and did not need reheating.The portions were really generous! We were impressed with how much meat was in the chop suey and the chicken balls. We're used to there being a little bit of meat with a lot of whatever else it came with (veggies or batter).None of the dishes were greasy, except the spring roll, which is to be expected. The chicken and the beef were both flavourful and tender. Easy to eat.The vegetables were firm but not raw nor overcooked. The portion cuts were generous. The zucchini was still intact and not slimy. Impressive!We will definitely be ordering here again or even trying it out inside the restaurant next time.I'd recommend this place for a date night, or a large gathering. They have the space for large meetings or could seat a couple away from the crowds.Well done! Thanks for good Canadian style Chinese food!

Firstly, note the error in the address. This is actually 441 Columbia, a few doors east of what is shown hereMy original meal here, a few weeks ago, was to find a place suitable for a special meal before my friend flew back to China. This was the meal. People from Hong Kong and Shanghai judged this surprisingly good; and I would add my complements. Now, all the food seems to come at once, and overwhelm people. A little longer between dishes might allow a more peaceful repast. And, it seemed some dishes were a little light on meat and heavy on vegetables. But, this was just me - no one else had any negative comments. Nice work people - handling a big group on a busy night! Reasonably priced, too - seven people at less than $100 - we'll be back.

This NOT Kirin's, or Fishermans Terrace, nor are the prices. Fast friendly service with LOTS of great tasting food without busting the budget. Expect to pay about $12 each, and bring some home (Wow.)! I'll be bringing my friends from China here. Parking can be difficult. Be prepared to pay the parking meters.
