I usually stick with shredded beef or chicken, but I tried hers this time and it was thoroughly enjoyable. I also devoured the Al Pastor tacos on corn tortillas, cooked on a flat grill as they should be. The fact that we both finished our meals completely was a rare occurrence for us, as we usually take home leftovers that end up getting thrown away. One thing to note is that the salsa and guacamole at El Canelo have a bit of a kick to them. The mild salsa was delicious, but the guacamole might be spicier than what you're used to. The restaurant's interior is nothing fancy, but the food is exceptional. The salsa can be quite hot, depending on your preference. I apologize for the poor quality of the photos I took - I was too hungry to focus properly. Also, the chimichangas here are not the oversized versions you may be accustomed to; they are perfectly portioned and full of flavorful seasoned beef or chicken. Overall, the food at El Canelo exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend giving it a try.
The atmosphere at this restaurant is fantastic, the food is delicious, and the service is outstanding. The staff are very friendly, and while the prices are a bit on the higher side, they are similar to other Mexican restaurants.
After reading positive reviews, I was hopeful that I would finally find good Mexican food in Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. The enchiladas were topped with a strange Mexican-flavored beige gravy instead of traditional enchilada sauce, which was neither visually appealing nor tasty. The mushrooms on top were unpleasant and tasted bitter, which I found to be a poor pairing with Mexican cuisine. While my husband's burrito was decent and the chips and salsa were good, the subpar enchiladas left me unimpressed. In an unfortunate update, my husband experienced stomach issues after eating the burrito, indicating that our overall experience was not satisfactory.
Went to westminny so taco tuesday was always a treat for us. the beef tacos are fire. the service was always great and the family is super cool and work unbelievably hard from what i can tell. great establishment!
Best Mexican food I've ever had. Pittsburgh where I live does not have any Mexican places like this. Service is very quick and efficient, you can't beat the prices, and the authentic taste of real Mexican food is second to none. My go to is the chicken fajitas!!
