Good service and happy to chat about the music. Who 'd have thought that Led Zeppelins Communication Breakdown would translate to Ruptura de Communications in Portuguese top stuff.
It may have been because we were there on a national holiday but we had quite a wait for a table and finally we were rushed to a table in a corner that took about 15 minutes to have anyone wait on us. Finally our waiter, who was a good guy, came along. The Minestrone soup looked like creamed squash soup, my chicken was served with mashed potatoes and rice! What??? All of it was bland. It may be a great place to dine our guide recommended it but that day it was just awful. I nearly got run over by a waiter who never apologized. I realize it was busy, but we were just being shown to our table and he nearly took me and the hostess out! The food was not typical of what we came to expect in Portugal unfortunately.
The most unpleaseant place on the city of Nazaré. The owner treat you like trash. And the experience was like you are in a 3th world country. A most avoid place.
Hanged out here a couple of times while vacationing in Nazaré. Great service and hospitality. Met some nice locals having their afternoon coffee and tea. Their gin and tonic is served in large glasses and made to perfection. Their dishes are good, especially their cheese and chorizo platter.
I was looking for Internet cafe that didn't exist and overhear bar owner taking English. I stopped by to ask directions (to the non existent local Internet cafe). The owner with typical Portuguese hospitality offered me his own lap top! After completing my work I hung out for an hour or two. Cafe Oceano (not to be confused with a seafood restaurant of similar name) is the hang out for musicians and singers. I met a sax player and a drummer and a singer on my brief visit. Welcoming and open. With a well stocked bar and good sounds gently in the background this bar cafe makes a refreshing change to the standard tourist traps (with generic menus in all main languages. The decor is simple a few rare single and album sleeves decorate the walls. This is a one of a kind in Nazare. Ask for Hugo and say Patrick sent you ! It will put a smile on his face. Ask also info on the local guides who can show and authentic and local tour. One love.
