Ala-riba - Nazare

Just put your order in and soon enough a huge pot of steaming seafood goodness that is in the best broth EVER arrives to take you to seafood heaven! OMGoodness, this is just the BEST! The crab, clams, clamari, shrimp all of it is perfectly cooked and seasoned with the broth. Fresh Portuguese bread sops it up and every single bite is just SO good! We ordered a salad too love my veggies but we also had to take some home as there was loads of the Cataplana, and even a bit of salad left for the next day. Not to worry though it made GREAT leftovers too! We rode the funicular up and didn't find the restaurant we were looking for so we went down and enjoyed another great meal at Ala Riba! All of the anticipation for more seafood and we knew we wouldn't be disappointed and we were not! The fish stew is absolutely perfect! LOTS of delicious, fresh and sweet white fish, swimming in another perfect broth! I LOVE the onions and bell peppers that make the broth so tasty but also add a bit of texture to the stew! YUM!!! Our other dish is a pork that sits atop a beautiful bed of fried potatoes and is topped with yet another tasty sauce! Very tasty indeed! What wonderful Portuguese dinners, and delightful folks totally enjoying serving the best seafood ever!

IT IS NO LONGER Ala-Riba now it’s called MAR TERRA BUT WARNING EXTERIOR SIGNAGE HAS NOT BEEN CHANGED. I have been a regular customer of Ala-Riba for years, each time I visit in Nazaré. Each time, I looked forward to a warm greeting and professional service from the staff. I am writing to express my discontent with the service as all staff members and NEW owner or manager have changed. It seems now they cater to some VIP clients or regulars and forget all about the other few tables. With regards to the meal my family had, it seems it was prepared by the original staff but portions were definitely smaller. Please correct signage and change up the interior design just to ensure customers are not tricked into thinking it is the same restaurant.

Great restaurant—the husband and wife owners are fabulous...great ambience and the seafood stew is unbelievably good.

Closed on Mondays Unfortunately We visited before on a Monday and they were open I think Near the beach

We went there as a couple and got the cataplana de marisco for 2. We were SO full in the end! It's amazing!
