Super yummy! They have gf buns and a dedicated gf fryer!
Excellent experience Menu clearly supported all dietary requirements. Server was new but knowledgeable and ensured she checked with the kitchen in any items (sauces) she was unclear about. Enjoyed a delicious gluten free bun on my burger and fries from a dedicated fryer.
I dined at this restaurant three times in the past year. The first time, the server seemed knowledgeable and I had a good experience. However, on the second and third visits, the server appeared unsure about the safety protocols, and I ended up feeling sick afterwards. Since I have mild symptoms with exposure, I cannot say for certain that it was the food from this restaurant that made me sick. Nevertheless, I have decided that I will not be going back.
Warning: Be cautious when dining at this restaurant! I ordered a Chicken Bistro burger, specifying that I have Celiac disease, yet I was served a regular burger instead. I only realized the mistake because my father had ordered the same burger and it looked identical. Upon inspection, I noticed white flour on the bun. The waitress initially insisted it was gluten-free but upon further investigation, she discovered it was not. The manager apologized, mentioning that the chef had recently returned from a four-month absence. They prepared a new plate for me, but I chose not to eat it due to concerns about potential cross-contamination. I settled for bacon and fries instead, but ended up experiencing a minor allergic reaction with redness on my face and mouth sores. It seems that the kitchen may not be as attentive to dietary restrictions as they claim to be. It's unfortunate that I won't be returning to this restaurant, especially since it was one of the few good options in Nanaimo. I recommend asking thorough questions and not assuming that they are handling food preparation seriously.
