Tamales Diana - Mundelein

I still really enjoy the food at this restaurant, but I'm lowering my rating to 4 stars because they have stopped using delivery apps. I understand why small businesses might choose to avoid these platforms. However, the restaurant hasn't contacted the apps to remove their listing, which creates confusion for customers. When you place an order through the app, it charges you and begins processing, but never updates you on the status. In fact, a delivery driver was sent to the restaurant and ended up in a dispute with the staff, who informed them that they do not accept online orders.

I ordered tamales, and they were quite disappointing. The chicken was incredibly dry, and the masa fell apart. I also tried the horchata, but it was very watered down. This restaurant really needs to make some improvements.

My husband and I both ordered pork tamales, and wow, they were massive! They were incredibly tender and packed with flavor, definitely the best tamales I've ever had! We will definitely be returning! My husband also tried the skirt steak burrito suizo, which was enormous and tasted fantastic! I had two Mexican-style asada tacos, and they were bursting with flavor! The meat had a satisfying chew to it, but in a good way! We're so glad we chose this place for lunch today!

I called to place an order, and the person who answered hung up immediately. I tried again, and a guy picked up sounding really angry and then hung up again. This is extremely unprofessional. I do not recommend supporting this business.

My good friend introduced me to this restaurant after spotting their Tamale truck, and as we both enjoy exploring new dining spots, we had to give it a try. While it can be easily overlooked, this place is definitely worth seeking out. I can honestly say I had the best torta cubano ever here. Every ingredient stood out with distinct flavors in each bite, from the freshly baked roll and the steak milanesa to the fried egg, sausage, and toppings—everything was simply delicious. I also decided to sample a tamale, since it’s part of their name. With several options available, I chose the tamale Rojas and was thoroughly pleased with it. The restaurant also provides what tasted like homemade red and green salsas, which were delightful complements to the tamale! I look forward to visiting again soon!
