Pier Head - Mullaghmore

The weather was sunny, providing a great opportunity to dine outdoors. The Pier Hotel was the only establishment with available tables, possibly due to the mediocre food. However, at only €8 for chicken goujons and chips, it is a budget-friendly option.

I had a fantastic night recently. The staff was very friendly and I loved my room with a view of the pier. The bed was comfortable. I had dinner at the restaurant, which was very enjoyable, and breakfast was delicious. I can't wait to come back.

I visited this hotel while on a work trip nearby. The hotel appeared typical from the outside and I was not expecting much. My room was simple and a bit dated, with some mold in the bathroom, but overall it was clean. The bed was comfortable and the room had a nice view. The coffee and Guinness were excellent, but the food was disappointing. The chicken starter and the chicken and chorizo linguine were both dry and lacked flavor, so I returned most of it. The breakfast the next day seemed to skimp on portion sizes, with small servings of black and white pudding and cheap sausages. It's a shame because the hotel has great potential.

I understand that when booking through a hotel groupon, one may not expect the best room in the hotel. However, the room we were assigned was incredibly small and claustrophobic, with no chairs, poor lighting, and a disappointing view. There was no water boiler in the room, apparently due to hotel policy. The dining experience also left much to be desired, with skimpy portions and minimal accompaniments. I would not recommend the restaurant, as we ended up eating elsewhere the following day. The service was lacking, with the waitress initially refusing to let us sit by the window, but the manager later allowed it. Overall, the staff did not seem very friendly, and it felt as though they were not accustomed to dealing with customers who had booked through a groupon. Despite these shortcomings, the surroundings are beautiful and there is plenty to see and do outside of the hotel.

This hotel is pretty basic, but it does have a nice pool. The room I stayed in had a sea view, which was nice, but there were no tea or coffee making facilities. The room was spacious but cold because the heating wasn't on. After complaining, we were given an electric heater. Overall, it was okay for one night. The hotel bar was fine, but I wasn't impressed with the food. I ordered a burger and wouldn't recommend it. Fortunately, I found a great restaurant called Harrison's a few miles away, which was excellent.
