You might miss it. But inside is a pleasant spacious Dining area. Maybe 20 tables and a nice WC. We felt lucky to get such a nice start on the day..
This is the restaurant in the Neue Pinakothek and they are open from lunch through dinner with an adapting menu. It has been around for a few years now. From the outside, the place is not easy to spot, but it is really worth looking for. I would not call their menu selection mediterranean food , but rather French-Asian fusion with a stress on French and fish seafood, even though they have some meat dishes as well. They serve only fresh-caught fish seafood, no aqua culture. We went there for dinner as a party of 4 and had winter salads with prawns, fish plate, seafood pasta (vongole), chicken curry and some desserts. The food was excellent quality, very well prepared and very well presented, delicious! It came on truly warm plates where appropriate and the waiter service was absolutely perfect. Good choice of wines, wonderful desserts, very good espresso. The owner chef came by and asked whether we were satisfied in a very pleasant but low-key way. It seems to also be a good place for fresh oysters, as s French customer came just for that while we were there. This is not the place to go when you want a fast, cheap meal but it is a very good choice if you are looking for excellent seafood and fish, high quality food and a matching ambiente service. The price is appropriate for what you get and in that sense, I will attest the owner and chef that they deliver great value for money. Highly recommended!
We had a wonderful dinner on a Saturday night. The tuna carpaccio combined sour and wasabi into a delicious combination. For the main course I had stuffed scallops, which were a pleasant departure from scallops cooked in butter. My guests had a sea-ray fillet with early sparga. The owner executive chef took time to visit our table and personally checked to see that it met our expectations.
We had a wonderful meal here. It was a Saturday evening, and the place was only moderately busy rather hushed and slightly reverential in atmosphere. That didn't dampen our enjoyment at all. The head waiter was extremely attentive, polite and helpful though the new...assistant was obviously still finding his way round. To eat, we shared an excellent seafood platter I thought the crab was rather flavourless, but overall it was excellent. Almost as good was the butter for bread, I mean it was simply the best salted butter I've ever had in a restaurant, and I could have eaten it all night. As a result, I was close to passing on desert. On the menu, the lemon tart really caught my fancy, but I've lost count of how many times these have disappointed too sweet, too dry, simply lacking in zest and acid and depth of flavour. My dining companion convinced me If it's good anywhere, it'll be good here. Exactly right absolutely superb, unctuously rich and wonderfully, sharply lemony. Companion had the tiramisu made with amaretti biscuits so gluten free. Again, how many tiramisus are simply a sad disappointment? despite lots of cream and alcohol, nasty dry chunks of bad sponge that catch in the throat. But this one was simply magical. Together with a lovely bottle of Sancerre and a great mirabelle Pflümli as a digestif highly recommended, the meal cost less than So not cheap, but for a meal of this quality, really a bargain
We decided to stop in for lunch before touring the gallery. There were a few tables available on their patio so we had lunch outside. Service was OK from a friendly fellow. We ordered a couple of Pilsners, an Italian salad and tafelspitz. Both meals...were generous in portions and very tasty. By the time we finished our lunch all tables were taken. It was a wonderful day to eat outside
