The service is clearly basic, but on one visit they were not upset that we lingered following dinner and came to take our order for more drinks. They have the standard curry and salads that are often found in a Vietnamese/European restaurant. The ingredients are really fresh and some afternoons you can watch them preparing food. Unfortunately this is not such a great place for kids, and they do not have a high chair to use. One does not typically need a reservation either.
I really wanted to like this bistro cafe but my experience proved otherwise. I ordered a papaya salad to take away and despite repeated requests to make it vegetarian with no fish or meat, my salad came with the unmistakable smell of fish dressing (something I discovered only after I opened it in my hotel room). At 7.20 for a small pot of salad, it is not cheap but I couldn't eat it and so it ended up being thrown away sadly. Also, there was some miscommunication about my order itself and I was billed for two items which when I pointed out, did not go down well with the owners. They made a face as if to suggest it was my fault. I would be happier paying for some fresh veg that I can buy from the midweek market (which btw, I highly reccommend) across the road and making the salad myself.
It was a nice day, when we decided to go eat some Vietnamese food in a building across the street. Very nice Pho-Bo soup and fantastic noodles with crispy duck. I recommend this bistro! Nice atmosphere, good home cooked food. Only problem is that you only pay cash. But there is an ATM in front of the Bistro, so no problem with payment whatsoever.
The food is simply great the ingredients are fresh and crisp and everything is lovingly prepared. We're always coming!
The suppe is very delicious and the spring rolls. Everything is very good
