My family and I went to the Barker for dinner on a Tuesday night - we have eaten here numerous times and every time we go the servings get smaller. We ordered 3 mains of salt and pepper squid, for $19.50 each. Each serving only had 5 pieces of small square squid, and the side salad was a heap of leaves with a slice of tomato and a couple of slivers of cucumber! Should not be called a main at all. How many pieces of squid would we have gotten if it was an entree? Lol
Starving I found The Barker! The kitchen had just closed but the lovely staff accommodated me anyway. They were soooo friendly & helpful and the food was amazing!!!! The pie was delicious!! I don't usually bother with a side salad but it looked & tasted so good I couldn't help myself!! The complimentary bread was also delicious :-) I'm now full & happy :-)
The vegetables were, celeriac and fennel , with the fish dish. Nice change and interesting tastes and flavours. Partner had the snitzel and reported good taste and texture. Reasonably priced too.
Caught up with friends here on a Saturday night, managed to get a table quickly (we hadn't booked) and had a great night. The food selection was good, service was prompt and attentive. Later in the evening a solo guitarist/singer started up, he was good, surprisingly good and not overly loud. We had a few cocktails to finish the evening which were really good, not over priced and well made. Over all a great experience.
