Northwood - MONTE RIO

We had a great dinner at Northwood. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was friendly and festive. The prime rib was perfectly served, and the shrimp scampi was fantastic. We will definitely be back!

Forgot to write this review but it was so vivid that I can remember it like it was yesterday. On Father’s Day last year a man and his son was at the bar and he was drunk AF. He walked over to my table with my dad and my grandfather and sister and pulled his pants down briefly IN FRONT OF A CHILD and put his arm around my dad’s shoulder. There was a little girl on the other side of the room and she was staring at him. The waitress had a lot on her plate and saw the man and shook her head but she could not do anything at the moment. I approached the manager telling him that this man was causing a commotion at our table and NOTHING was done. It was so busy during Father’s Day that I feel like we were ignored. I am born and raised in Monte Rio and we have been coming here our entire life and never have I ever experienced something like that. P.s., the man only left our table after my grandfather yelled at him saying “Get the hell out of here.” I’m just surprised that the manager did nothing during this time and I hope nothing like this ever happens again we still go here but that one experience has stayed with us. The elderly lady who seems to own and operate this restaurant should consider retiring, much like the food, which feels suited for a dated retirement home on a tight budget. I encountered both overcooked and undercooked items on the same plate. This establishment can and should do better. The quality here is appalling, comparable to a Denny's off the highway. Anyone who left a positive review should really reevaluate their standards. The owner’s demeanor is quite unappealing, suggesting a focus on profit over quality, resulting in a money-driven and rude attitude. It appears that most of the food is just reheated pre-packaged items, so I recommend bringing your own snacks or visiting a restaurant that truly deserves your support. This place is an embarrassment in the wine country and among the redwoods. It’s filthy. Avoid this establishment at all costs. It feels like a scam. Food: 1, Service: 2, Atmosphere: 1.
