So if the locals go, it is/must be good. Great service, friendly, family vibe. They remembered me, even though I hadn’t been informed quiet a while. Give it a go.
MUST READ. THE WORST EVER RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE IN MELBOURNE. On 12th Feb 21, I called them and booked a table for 2 at 7.15 pm. I requested them whether can they have our entrée chicken momos) ready when we reach because my girlfriend and I had had a hectic day and were super hungry. They confirmed Yes, and told me to inform them 15mins before I reach. I called and informed them 15mins before I reach and to my surprise, it was not ready. When I questioned the staff twice, she lied that it's ready, and they would serve me very soon. It took 10mins for the liers to get the food out from the kitchen to my table. Meanwhile, I ordered the Yellowtail Chardonnay $24) bottle. With this, they served us a pair of unclean glasses. I had to call them and asked for another pair of clean glasses. Also, in the meantime, we ordered chicken spring rolls. After 30mins, a lady came to us with vegetable spring rolls on a serving plate and asked us whether can we eat that. I don’t understand how can you come after 30mins to ask us whether can we eat something opposite to what we ordered. We politely rejected that and mentioned that we want chicken ones. Which again took another 15mins. It's almost 1 hr and we were served with just our second entrée. Later, we asked for recommendations for 2 people for our next order from the mains, where the staff said that we could go with Szechuan Chicken, but it would not be enough for 2 people. However, we still ordered only one dish which was more than enough when arrived). To that, she told me that we will have to wait 30mins. I was shocked but my girlfriend agreed to that – which I also had to agree with. After 45mins, there was no update from any staff about our order. When asked, she again lied that it's almost ready, which again took another 20mins to come out of the kitchen. When received, the food item was missing salt. And it tasted so horrible that we couldn’t even complete halfway. By 9.30 pm, we planned on checking out and the restaurant made a mistake in my bill too. They overcharged the wine to $27 which was $24. All these blunders had completely ruined our night before the circuit breaker. Even my girlfriend was not happy with the quality of the restaurant I chose. In spite of all these blunders, the restaurant staff and the owner never apologised for what happened but argued. This is my first review because I wanted to share don't ever go to this restaurant ever. Especially if you are with someone. It will ruin your moment completely.
Continues to be great! We’ve been going to Spicy Dragon for over a decade and it never ceases to amaze us. We were so happy once Spicy Dragon opened up again last year. They continue to serve amazing food as usual and it’s a nice relaxed and cosy environment. It’s a shame it’s closed during lockdown and there’s no takeaway, but we look forward to going back as soon as it opens up again!
Relunctantly went here for dinner on new year's day as our favourite chinese restaurant was closed. I am half Indian and knew what to expect....the customer service is terrible but the food was ok. It's exactly like what you get in India and I have never enjoyed it, I cringe at the words Manchurian soup! The food is VERY spicy and overloaded with salt, chillies and garlic. The restaurant is dingy and was packed with indians talking very loudly in hindi. The wait staff need some serious training in customer service and hospitality. I was disgusted at the dirty polo shirt the old man was wearing, covered all down the front with food. The other waitress was hopeless and didn't understand English, I had to speak to her in my broken hindi to get some water and the bill. Do not waste your time or money coming here unless you REALLY like chinese/indian food.
After being closed for a number of months for renovations, we dined at Spicy Dragon recently which is one of our favourite restaurants in Carnegie. We certainly missed going while it was closed and our recent meal was just a tasty as we remember. The range of flavours and quality of food is excellent. The atmosphere and decor may be a bit suburban but importantly it is the food that is the highlight here. If you like Indian/Chinese cuisine than we can highly recommend. We are certainly pleased that it has re-opened!
