We arrive in a wonderful old church converted in a cafe-gallery. we had a very good and tasty brunch with coffee and tea. Atmosphere is warm and nice. We enjoy the place and the quality off the food. We will come back.
Average food, ordered the zucchini fritters. They were more like pancakes. The coffee was decent but the chai was luke warm. There was a few nice art pieces on the wall and a lovely old venue. Though it was cold. We had to keep our jackets on.
Healthy fare served in a renovated church. A beautiful gallery of paintings to gaze at while you wait. The liquorice is to die for.
So let me first say that I have breakfast at the Breslin Gallery nearly every weekend. I love it. Why? Its well priced and the food is excellent. Breakfast dishes are around the $10 -$12 mark and I know that the quality of the ingredients is really good. The avocado and goats cheese on toast uses Meredith Goats cheese and is topped with roasted cherry tomatoes and balsamic vinegar. But I am addicted to the Banana Bomb which is fruit toast with roasted banana and nuts and a white cheese - I think its ricotta but I could be wrong. Anyway the Banana Bomb is amazing.Lastly if you are around for lunch have the BIG SALAD - its just that - a big fresh vegetable salad with loads of different vegetables and nuts. Really satisfying.Oh - I forgot - the bircher muesli - that is sensational - for me its the best muesli in Melbourne. Now you see why I have breakfast there regularly !So on the down side - food service is a little slow so don't go there if you are in a rush. They make everything from scratch so meals take a while to cook. You will be there at least half an hour. So relax, grab the paper and don't go there when you are absolutely starving or you need to be somewhere in a rush. This is a slow place and that is part of its charm - just go with the flow lol.Last thing I want to say about the Breslin Gallery Cafe is that you can pay for a coffee for a stranger. I think that is a really lovely idea. You pay extra and a chalk mark is added to the board so that someone less fortunate can come in and have a coffee. Beautiful idea.
