Píng Hé Gōng Yuán Shí Táng

In March 2022, I came to enjoy cherry blossom viewing as it is the season of cherry blossoms. There are many cherry blossom trees here and many visitors as well. It is a very good spot for cherry blossom viewing.

On July 7, 2021, I visited Chiran Peace Park in Minamikyushu City, which has a parking lot and restrooms available. Inside the park, there are attractions such as the Special Attack Peace Museum, Chiran Museum, Gokoku Shrine, Kannon Hall, and various old aircraft. Additionally, there are many dining options located next to the parking lot.

I visited the Chiran Peace Museum for Kamikaze Pilots for the first time in Kagoshima, the southernmost point of mainland Japan, to pay my respects and acknowledge the hardships of my senior colleagues who lived up to the age of 65. They took a two and a half hour flight to protect Okinawa and carried out a kamikaze attack on the enemy fleet during the war. Most of them did not reach their targets and were shot down into the sea. I wonder what feelings they had as they tightly gripped the controls. Whether they were motivated by a desire to protect Okinawa or Japan, it was clear that they had no choice to protect their own lives. My prayers go out to them.

この飛行場から飛び立ち 1036人が還らない人となりました。 さまざまな戦地から選ばれた若者が、たくさんの訓練を受けて知覧基地に配属。職務を知った時の気持ちを考えると胸が熱くなります。 今、ロシアがウクライナを攻めています。戦争に民間人を殺さないとルールはありません。 人命はかけがえのないものです。 この場所は、そんな気持ちを考えることが出来ます。

昨年の桜は天気に恵まれ満開でしたが、本日３月23日、公園を訪れた時は一昨日の強風の影響か、桜の花弁が落ちているように感じました。昨年の桜を掲載していますが、今年は花のじゅうたん薄いようです。 関係者の話では今日が見ごろと話していました。 令和４年３月27日、昨日の大雨の影響で桜の花弁が若干落ちていましたが、今日が満開のようです。午前８時半に人手閑散を狙って行きましたが、考えることは一緒で既に数十人の観光客が来ていました。
