I had a rough idea of what I wanted from the menu posted outside, but I asked the young man at the register for a recommendation. He mentioned a daily special featuring stuffed vegetables, which I decided to try. Although I wasn't sure exactly what it was, the dish turned out to be a fantastic dining experience. They also offered me a sample of their Singaporean curry, which was delicious and unlike any curry I had tried before (I’m more familiar with Thai and Indian curries). I'm definitely looking forward to my next visit!
My husband and I visited Kopitiam Cafe to buy some laksa paste and mix. The owner was extremely helpful! He guided us on which coconut milk to choose—Chaokoh brand—and recommended the Ng Fung noodles, explaining that we should cook them for 10 minutes for the perfect texture or 12 minutes for a softer result. He even provided us with a take-out bowl of laksa broth to show us how it should look when we prepare it ourselves. We’re looking forward to when COVID is over so we can enjoy dining in! In the meantime, we'll be making laksa at home with the help of his great advice!
I absolutely love the milk tea! The dried fish served with the sauce for rice is also delicious.
Delicious no-fuss location for Singaporean fare. Went here with a large group for Saturday lunch. We had a reservation so they had seating for us. I enjoyed the newspaper-style Singapore comics. All the food was delicious and the family (it's a mom and pop type place) were very patient with our complicated group payment. I'm knocking off 1 star because our waiter suggested 3 appetizers which we agreed to, but brought out 3 orders of each of the 3 appetizers which is not what we ordered. We had only wanted 1 order of each. He did graciously give us some of the extra orders for free to avoid wasting food, and I appreciated that.
I thought I'd never be able to find fried fish bee hoon in East Bay! Not exactly the same as what you'd find in hawkers in Singapore, but still tasty. I also bought curry puffs to go delicious! Glad to have found a piece of home here. Will definitely be back.
